It's me!

Just so you know what I look like

Everyone always seems to start by saying something to the effect of  “I have always painted” or “I’ve always known I would paint”…I won’t.  My childhood got sort of rearranged with many things happening so my frustrations were usually worked out through sports activities and music.  Oh, sure, I dabbled with creating in my art classes, but mostly I taught myself how to strum a guitar and then began to write songs.  I can’t read a lick of music so I would just make up a tune and then put words to it, completely by ear.  That is what helped me through the hormonal hell growing up.  I also wrote poems and stories and kept a journal of all my thoughts and feelings.  I kept some of it but most got lost through the years of my life – wish I had some of them now as they were fairly good.

In 1976 I decided to take an art class from the local art store and learned the basics of oil painting with projects we did on a weekly basis.  I took courses for several months and was strongly encouraged to continue because I was told I had talent.  So, I began to create on the canvas. Oil paintings was all I painted  for several years and thoroughly enjoyed it.  As I continued practicing, people started wanting my paintings and that is when my eyeballs went cha-ching!  LOL

Back in 1995, I had to have surgery done on one of my legs and was laid up for about 8 weeks off work and decided to get a computer and learn how to use it, so, a friend took me to the store and I got my very first computer.  What a dork I was!  The first thing that amazed me when I finally started using the internet was how some of the pages had these really awesome pictures on there and I immediately fell in love with graphic art and website design.  So, for the next several years till now, I have taught myself how to build websites and do graphics.

In 1997 I wanted to branch out and learn new things (prompted by websites I visited) and so began my journey into sculpting.  Several little projects led me into a larger one – a doll.  Due to some emotional issues I was dealing with surrounding my life at that time, I created a doll unlike any I had seen…a bag lady complete with her little cart of goodies.  Encouraged by several people, I entered it into a local fair in the area and ended up with 2 first place ribbons for her.

Dabbling in the arts through the years has helped my sanity remain, albeit somewhat shaken at times, lol, but my love has intensified.  I have always worked at a job of some sort and was employed for the last several years where I actually thought I would retire from, but, as life would have it, they decided to close our place down and move it to another state and didn’t even invite any of us to go along.  Shock, anger, sadness, and frustration enveloped me for a year as we prepared to close.  I have not been able to paint, or sculpt anything for the past 5 years.  I have created some websites and done some graphic work, but haven’t been able to do the other.  So here I am now, unemployed,  with some heavy decisions to make.  Go back to work, or make a go of doing my art for a living.  I am in a position financially to give my art a go and that is the purpose in this website.

Hopefully you haven’t been bored to tears reading this and I do hope you will subscribe and come back to visit as I begin (once again) to post some of my work on here.  I hope you will leave me a comment on occasion so I know someone is actually interested too!  Thanks for stopping in!
